Group Dental
Studies have shown that good
dental health can affect the overall health of
your employees. It’s easy to add dental
insurance to your group health plan.
Group Dental Insurance coverage is provided
to help prevent major oral health problems and
expenses. Group dental care plans range from
traditional plans that offer liberal services to
plans that are focused on helping employees
maintain good dental health. Most plans
encourage preventive treatment, allowing
employees to achieve oral health while striving
to minimize dental costs. A wide range of
products, are available from managed care to
true group indemnity products.
A typical Group Dental plan includes three
types of services.
- Preventative - This
provides coverage for two exams per year and is
usually paid 100%.
- Basic Services - This
provides coverage for services like filling
cavities and other minor procedures. Coverage
for this is usually with a deductible and
copayment.
- Major Services - This coverage
includes procedures like crowns and root canals
with a higher deductible and copay. All dental
plans have an annual maximum which can be
anywhere from $1,000 to $2,000 as an average.
Orthodontia is generally not covered, but some
top of the line programs do include this
benefit.
There are less expensive discount programs
that are not true Dental Insurance, but do offer
discounts for participating providers.
