Flood
YOUR HOMEOWNER POLICY DOES NOT COVER FLOOD! Floods are the nation’s most common and most costly natural disaster, and cause millions of dollars in damage every year. Anywhere it rains, it can flood. One of the best ways to protect your home or business from flooding is to have flood insurance.
According to the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), more than 20 percent of flood claims come from properties outside the high-risk flood zone. The homeowners’ policy excludes certain perils, such as earthquake, landslide, flood, surface water, waves, tidal water or tidal wave, sewer backup and seepage. Some exclusions – like flood, earthquake, and sewer backup – can be added back to the policy.
Even if your home or office is not in a flood prone zone it may make good sense to add the coverage. Heavy rainstorms are not unknown in Ohio! Don’t be caught unprepared.
